Another month of hard work (and some fun too!) over in the Cole’s Clique Elite Private Facebook group and that means another Cole’s Clique “Elite Member Spotlight” is upon us.  Since the very beginning Sharon has been contributing to the group in both asking for help and more important, providing help to all the other clique-mates 🙂
Congrats Sharon! Keep up the good work and enjoy your $50 Amazon Gift Card 🙂
How long have you been a Cole’s Clique elite member?
I have been a member of Cole’s Clique since the beginning of 2016.
What skills have you improved on the most since joining the Clique?
I would have to say my biggest improvement has been both composition and learning to shoot confidently in any lighting situation and to not be afraid of high ISO.
What is your favorite aspect of being a Clique member?
It has to be that I can freely share my work there for critiquing or ask any question pertaining to photography and not worry about drama or feeling less than adequate.  Being a Cliquer feels more like a family that gets along well!
What is your favorite subject to photograph?
Family and senior photography are my favorite(s).  I love watching seniors’ personalities emerge during the shoot and love hearing the excitement in their voices for their journey into adulthood and independence.  Likewise, I find it so rewarding to photograph a families’ love and admiration for each other with relaxed and journalistic type photos preserving their memories for a lifetime.   Once a moment is gone it’s gone forever, but by photographing milestones, special occasions or just the annual family portraits, they now have a lasting memory of their time together.
What do you want your viewers to take away from your photography work?
It is my hope and desire that my clients not only have a fun experience during their shoot but that they also feel fantastic about themselves and see their beauty as I see them.  I also want them to take with them a forever memory of that moment and time in their life.
If you had the opportunity to travel the world and could only bring one lens which lens would you choose?
I’ve gone back and forth on this question a LOT, and although my first instinct was to say my 70-200, I am going to say for versatility it would have to be my 24-70.  I love the option of being able to shoot wide angle (for landscape as well as indoors) but yet still have some zoom.  My 24-70 is also a very fast and sharp lens.
What inspires you?
My husband inspires me immensely.  His support of me and my passion keeps me striving to do better and better every time I pick up my camera.  My clients’ response to seeing their photographs also inspires me to keep working hard because there is nothing more rewarding than giving a client a forever memory that makes them smile and gives them such happiness.
Where can we see more of your work?
I have a portfolio gallery that can be seen at sharonwestergd.smugmug.com and I am also on Facebook as Sharon Westergard Photography.  You can also see some of my work on Instagram @swestergardphotography.  I am currently under construction for my website and blog coming soon.  I will announce the link to that on Facebook and Instagram as soon as it’s done.
